Dr. Caren Norman, DVM

Veterinarian/ Practice Owner

Dr. Norman’s passion for pets and desire to be the next James Herriot made it inevitable that she would have her own veterinary practice. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree at the University of Guelph and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1992. In 1996, her dream was realized and since then, she has continued to strive to provide quality medicine in a caring and professional environment.

In addition to her family at Yorkwood, she has a son, Andrew, two daughters, Michala and Rachel as well as her dogs, Flynn and Reuben, and two cats, Ivy and Daisy.

Veterinarian/ Locum Associate

Dr. Raouf Abdelmalek graduated in 1990 and completed his training with the University of Guelph before starting his career in Lethbridge, Alberta.  He returned to Ontario and joined the Yorkwood Veterinary Clinic team in 2007.  It is important to Dr. A to educate clients about preventative measures and healthy lifestyle for their pets.  Dr. A has special interest in internal and emergency medicine and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. A’s family includes his wife Mary, daughter Maria and son Mina.

Sue

RVT / Practice Manager

Yorkwood opened in 1996 with Sue as the original Registered Veterinary Technician.  She graduated from Centralia College with honours in 1992.  Her role has evolved to that of Practice Manager, but she is still active in client and patient care with a special passion for rescued pets.

Wendy

Reception

Wendy started with us as a co-op student while studying for her Veterinary Medical Receptionist certificate at Durham College. After graduation in 2003, she stayed on full-time with the Yorkwood Team. Wendy has a cat named Curly Shirley that stole her family’s heart.

Kelly

Reception

Kelly joined the Yorkwood Team in the fall 2008. Although she is originally from Nova Scotia, she has lived in Ontario since 1992. Kelly graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from Laurentian University in 1998.

Alicia

RVT

Alicia joined our team in July, 2011. She graduated with honours from Seneca College with a diploma in Veterinary Technology and is now a Registered Veterinary Technician with the OAVT.  She shares her home in Keswick with her husband, her cats, Oni and Rogue.

Meghan

RVT

Meghan started working at Yorkwood Veterinary Clinic as a co-op student in May 2012.  She since has graduated from Seneca College and is a Registered Veterinary Technician.
